Bryan Fasola had a couple bottles of ferrofluid he got as a gift from a friend in Europe. It's an oily fluid that has a magnetic suspension. When near a magnet they reveal its magnetic field. I had seen it on the internet only weeks before he mentioned it and I was excited to have a chance to see it in person and take some photos.
Above is a view of a one inch magnet being dragged beneath a dish of ferrofluid.
below: is a display of eight small magnetic cubes standing up inside of the dish. Underneath is the one inch magnet with its powerful magnetic pull of about twenty pounds that keeps the cubes dancing away from each other in stacks of four. Their movement was very quick and hard to control but really fun to experience.
